Air Force at Boise State
BOISE, Idaho (Interstat) — The Boise State Broncos will look to capitalize on home court and momentum when they host the struggling Air Force Falcons in a Mountain West Conference men’s basketball game Saturday at Taco Bell Arena.
The Broncos (11-8, 2-4 MW) enter on a two-game winning streak after an 81-65 road victory at Wyoming on Tuesday. Andrew Meadow led the way with 21 points, continuing a strong stretch for the sophomore. Over his last five games, Meadow is averaging 18.2 points, including a 25-point performance in a triple-overtime loss at San Diego State on Jan. 3.
Conversely, Air Force (3-16, 0-6) is mired in a nine-game losing streak, all in conference play. The Falcons are coming off a 52-81 loss at Colorado State on Tuesday, where they were led by Kam Sanders’ 11 points. Sanders, a guard, has been a consistent bright spot during the skid, scoring in double figures in five of the last eight games.
Boise State has found its footing after a three-game losing streak earlier this month, with its defense keying the recent wins. The Broncos held Colorado State and Wyoming to an average of 69 points. They will be heavily favored against an Air Force offense that ranks last in the conference, averaging just 58.2 points per game and failing to reach 70 points all season.
The Falcons’ defensive struggles are equally pronounced, allowing a league-worst 83.2 points per game in MW play. This presents a prime opportunity for Boise State’s balanced attack, which features Meadow, Drew Fielder (15 points vs. Wyoming), and Dylan Andrews (14 points vs. Wyoming).
Historically, Boise State has dominated the series at home and will seek to improve its positioning in the league standings before a quick turnaround at San Jose State on Tuesday. Air Force, still searching for its first conference win, faces a daunting task in Boise, where the Broncos are 8-2 this season.
Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. MST Saturday.
