CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (Interstat) — Caleb Wilson scored 20 points to lead North Carolina to an 85-80 victory over Virginia in an Atlantic Coast Conference men’s basketball game Saturday at John Paul Jones Arena.

The Tar Heels, who improved to 16-4, held off a Cavaliers rally despite 20 points from Virginia’s Thijs De Ridder. North Carolina’s Seth Trimble added 16 points and Jarin Stevenson scored 17 off the bench.

Virginia, which fell to 16-3, was led by De Ridder’s 20 points and eight rebounds. The Cavaliers had been a 6.5-point favorite. The combined score of 165 points went over the pregame over/under line of 148.5.
