Oakland at Detroit

OAKLAND, Mich. (Interstat) — A pair of Horizon League teams looking to steady their conference momentum will meet Saturday when the Oakland Golden Grizzlies visit the Detroit Mercy Titans at Calihan Hall.

Oakland (11-10, 5-5 Horizon) enters off a deflating 103-85 home loss to IU Indianapolis on Wednesday, which snapped a two-game win streak. The Golden Grizzlies had previously posted decisive road victories at Green Bay (88-63) and Milwaukee (73-60). Their offense has been potent in wins, averaging 89 points over their last five victories, but inconsistent defense has been an issue in losses.

Detroit (8-11, 4-6) also looks to rebound after a 83-76 home loss to Purdue Fort Wayne on Wednesday. The Titans have alternated wins and losses over their past six games, showcasing potential but struggling for consistency. They are 6-3 at home this season.

The matchup features two of the league’s standout guards. Oakland’s Isaac Garrett is averaging 18.1 points over his last seven games, including a 30-point, 6-rebound effort in a win over Robert Morris on Jan. 4. For Detroit, Tyler Spratt has provided a scoring lift, averaging 16.4 points over his last five contests. He scored 19 points in a win over Cleveland State on Jan. 11.

Oakland won the first meeting this season, 82-77, in Detroit on Dec. 3 behind 24 points from Brody Robinson. The Titans will aim to avenge that loss and protect their home floor as both teams jockey for position in the league standings ahead of the February stretch run.

Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. EST on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026.
