Marquette Edges Providence in Overtime Thriller Behind James’ 38 Points

MILWAUKEE (Interstat) — Nigel James scored 38 points, including the go-ahead free throw with four seconds left in overtime, to lift Marquette past Providence 105-104 in a Big East men’s basketball game Monday night at Bradley Center.

The Golden Eagles, who led by 10 at halftime, survived a furious second-half rally by the Friars that forced the extra period before 13,881 fans. James added eight assists for Marquette, which improved to 7-13. Royce Parham added 18 points and four blocks.

Jaylin Sellers led Providence with 27 points, while Stefan Vaaks added 26. The Friars, who fell to 9-10, erased a double-digit deficit after the break but could not secure the final stop in overtime.
