Iowa at Indiana

Preview: Iowa, Indiana Meet in Big Ten Showdown

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (Interstat) — Two teams looking to halt losing streaks and solidify their postseason credentials will meet Saturday when the Iowa Hawkeyes visit the Indiana Hoosiers in a key Big Ten Conference matchup.

Both teams enter Assembly Hall with identical 12-5 overall records. Iowa (0-3 Big Ten) is seeking its first conference win after dropping its first three league contests. Indiana (2-2 Big Ten) has lost two straight following a promising start to conference play.

The Hawkeyes are coming off a 79-72 road loss at Purdue on Wednesday. Guard Kael Combs led Iowa with 16 points in that defeat. Combs has been a focal point, averaging 14 points over his last three games, but Iowa has struggled offensively in league play, failing to reach 70 points in any of its three conference losses.

Indiana is reeling from an 81-60 loss at Michigan State on Tuesday. The Hoosiers’ offense, which had been potent, was held to a season-low point total. Guard Lamar Wilkerson has been a consistent bright spot, averaging 24.2 points over his last five games, including a 32-point outburst against Nebraska.

The matchup features a contrast in styles. Iowa will need to solve its recent scoring woes against an Indiana team that, outside of its last outing, has shown a high-powered attack. Containing Wilkerson will be a primary task for the Hawkeyes’ defense.

For Indiana, protecting home court is crucial as it navigates a difficult upcoming schedule that includes road games at Michigan, UCLA and two against Purdue. A win would steady the Hoosiers after their recent stumble.

Iowa’s upcoming slate offers little respite, with a quick turnaround to host Rutgers next Tuesday. The Hawkeyes hope a victory in one of the conference’s most hostile environments can reverse their early Big Ten fortunes.

Tipoff is set for Saturday, Jan. 17, 2026, at Assembly Hall.
