WASHINGTON (Interstat) — Greg Jones scored 23 points to lead American to a 65-51 victory over service academy rival Navy in a Patriot League men’s basketball game Monday night at Bender Arena.

The Eagles used a strong first half to build a 33-17 lead at intermission and maintained control throughout the second half before an announced crowd of 1,314. Wyatt Nausadis added 17 points for American, which improved to 10-8 overall.

Navy, which fell to 12-6, was led by Austin Benigni’s 12 points and Cam Cole’s 13. The Midshipmen shot poorly from the field and could not overcome the early deficit despite outscoring American 34-32 after halftime.
