Sacramento State at Portland State

PORTLAND, Ore. (Interstat) — A surging Portland State hosts a struggling Sacramento State squad in a Big Sky Conference men’s basketball matchup Saturday at the Stott Center.

The Vikings (8-5) enter conference play with momentum, coming off a 93-87 overtime road win at Idaho State last Saturday. Portland State has won four of its last five games, with its only loss in that stretch a narrow two-point defeat at Tulane.

Sacramento State (4-10) seeks to halt a five-game losing streak. The Hornets fell 95-82 at Weber State in their most recent outing last Saturday and have not won since Nov. 25.

The game features two of the conference’s top offensive talents. Portland State is led by guard Terri Miller, who is averaging 25.8 points over his last four games. He scored 29 points in a win at Weber State and 25 in the overtime victory at Idaho State.

For the Hornets, guard Mikey Williams has been a bright spot during the skid, averaging 24.3 points over the same four-game stretch. He erupted for 34 points in a loss at Idaho State on Jan. 1 and scored 26 at Weber State.

Portland State has shown resilience in close games, winning two overtime contests on its recent road trip. Sacramento State has struggled defensively, allowing an average of 91.2 points during its five-game losing streak.

This is the first of two regular-season meetings between the teams. They will meet again in Sacramento on Feb. 7.

Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. PST Saturday.
