Queens (N.C.) at North Florida
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Interstat) — A surging Queens (N.C.) team will look to continue its climb toward .500 in ASUN Conference play when it visits struggling North Florida on Saturday at UNF Arena.
The Royals (8-8, 2-1 ASUN) have found their footing after a difficult non-conference slate, winning three straight games, including a 77-51 road victory at Jacksonville on Thursday. The Ospreys (2-14, 0-3), meanwhile, are mired in a nine-game losing streak, most recently falling 85-73 at home to West Georgia.
Queens’ resurgence has been fueled by guard Chris Ashby. The standout scorer erupted for 34 points in a win over Bellarmine on Jan. 3 and added 20 points in Thursday’s rout at Jacksonville. His scoring punch will be central to the Royals’ attack.
North Florida will counter with its own high-volume scorer in Kamrin Oriol. The guard has been a bright spot during the skid, averaging 24.3 points over his last three games. He poured in 28 points with four assists in the loss to West Georgia.
The matchup presents a stark contrast in momentum. Queens’ three-game win streak followed a stretch where it lost three straight to power-conference opponents Auburn, Arkansas and Wake Forest by an average of 38 points. The Royals have averaged 88.7 points per game during their current wins.
North Florida’s defense, allowing 90.1 points per game, will be severely tested. The Ospreys’ losses this season have come by an average margin of 22.2 points, including defeats to Miami, Gonzaga and Dayton.
This is the first of two scheduled meetings between the programs this season. They are slated to play again in Charlotte on Feb. 7.
Following this game, Queens will travel to face Florida Gulf Coast on Jan. 15. North Florida hits the road for its next contest, visiting North Alabama on Jan. 15.
Tip-off is set for Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026, in Jacksonville.
