LEIPSIC, Del. (Interstat) — Anthony McComb scored 23 points to lead Norfolk State to a 66-64 victory over Delaware State in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference men’s basketball game Saturday at Memorial Hall.

The Spartans (7-11, 1-0 MEAC) held a 34-31 halftime lead and survived a late push from the Hornets (5-11, 0-1). Ponce James led Delaware State with 22 points. Norfolk State’s Keyontae Lewis added 18 points.

Delaware State, which forced 20 turnovers, had a chance to tie or win on its final possession but could not get a shot off. Norfolk State secured the win when Adrean Newton made a layup with nine seconds remaining. The Spartans shot 51% from the field but committed 20 turnovers.
