Washington at Indiana
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (Interstat) — A pivotal early Big Ten clash awaits Sunday when the Indiana Hoosiers host the Washington Huskies at Assembly Hall.
Both teams enter conference play with momentum, boasting winning non-conference records. Indiana (10-3) has won three straight, including an 81-60 victory over Siena on Dec. 22. Washington (9-4) has won four of its last five, most recently defeating Utah 74-65 on Dec. 29.
The matchup features two of the conference’s most dynamic guards in a head-to-head battle. Washington’s Zoom Diallo is averaging 15.4 points and 4.0 assists per game, coming off a 24-point, 7-assist performance against Utah. Indiana will counter with Lamar Wilkerson, a potent scorer who erupted for 44 points against Penn State on Dec. 9 and is averaging 23.2 points per game over his last five contests.
The Huskies’ offense has shown high potency, scoring 105 and 86 points in dominant wins over Southern Utah and San Diego, respectively. However, road tests have been a challenge, with losses at Seattle, Colorado and Baylor. Indiana has been strong at home, winning all seven games in Bloomington by an average margin of 29.7 points.
This game marks Washington’s inaugural Big Ten regular-season contest as a new conference member. Indiana seeks a statement win to open its league schedule before a difficult stretch that includes road games at Michigan State and Michigan.
Defensive adjustments will be key. Washington must find a way to contain Wilkerson’s scoring bursts, while the Hoosiers need to disrupt the rhythm of Diallo and Washington’s supporting scorers, Hannes Steinbach and Desmond Claude, who combined for 41 points in the win over Utah.
Tipoff is set for Sunday, Jan. 4, 2026, at historic Assembly Hall. The game will be televised on the Big Ten Network.
