Boise State at San Diego State
BOISE, Idaho (Interstat) — A pivotal early Mountain West clash awaits on Saturday when the Boise State Broncos visit the San Diego State Aztecs at Viejas Arena.
Both teams enter the Jan. 3, 2026, contest looking to build momentum in conference play. Boise State (9-4) arrives after a 62-53 home win over New Mexico on Tuesday. San Diego State (8-4) is also coming off a conference victory, having defeated San Jose State 81-68 the same night.
The matchup features two of the league’s most dynamic guards. Boise State’s Spencer Ahrens is averaging 12.0 points over his last two games, including a 12-point effort in 20 minutes against New Mexico. For the Aztecs, BJ Davis has been a consistent offensive force, scoring 18 points against San Jose State and averaging 17.3 points over his last three outings against Division I opponents.
The Broncos have won four of their last five, with the lone loss an 81-66 road defeat at Nevada on Dec. 20. Their resume includes a notable 77-68 win at Butler. San Diego State’s season has been marked by high-scoring victories but also lopsided losses, including a 68-45 defeat at Arizona and a 94-54 loss at Michigan.
Historically a tough venue for visitors, Viejas Arena will provide a stern test for the Broncos. The Aztecs have won their last two home games by an average of 35.5 points.
This game serves as a critical early barometer for both teams’ conference title aspirations. Boise State will continue its road trip with a non-conference game at Grand Canyon on Jan. 7, while San Diego State hits the road to face Nevada on Jan. 6.
