ABILENE, Texas (Interstat) — SMU defeated North Carolina 97-83 in a men’s NCAA basketball game Saturday at Moody Coliseum. The Mustangs, led by Boopie Miller’s 27 points and 12 assists, outscored the Tar Heels to secure a key Atlantic Coast Conference victory. Seth Trimble scored 22 points for North Carolina in the loss. The upset improved SMU’s record to 12-2, while North Carolina fell to 13-2. The Tar Heels had entered the game as a slight favorite.
