Louisville at Stanford

Preview of Louisville vs. Stanford Men’s Basketball

PALO ALTO, Calif. (Interstat) — Two surging teams with nearly identical records will meet in a nonconference showdown Friday when the Louisville Cardinals visit the Stanford Cardinal at Maples Pavilion.

The matchup, organized by the Atlantic Coast Conference, features Louisville (11-2) riding a four-game winning streak and Stanford (11-3) looking to rebound from a low-scoring home loss.

Louisville arrives from a dominant 90-70 road victory at California on Tuesday. The Cardinals have showcased a potent offense, averaging 87.5 points during their current streak. Guard Ryan Conwell has been a catalyst, coming off a 26-point, four-assist performance against the Golden Bears. Over his last five games, Conwell is averaging 20.0 points.

Stanford’s momentum was halted in a 47-40 defensive struggle against Notre Dame on Tuesday. Before that, the Cardinal had won five straight. Forward Chisom Okpara has been a consistent scorer, posting 20 points in two of his last five outings. He led Stanford with 13 points in the loss to the Fighting Irish.

The game presents a contrast in recent performance. Louisville’s offense has been humming, with Adrian Wooley adding 21 points against Cal. Stanford, meanwhile, will need to rediscover its scoring touch after shooting poorly in its last outing.

This contest serves as a final high-profile nonconference test for both squads before diving deeper into ACC play. Louisville begins a tough league stretch next week against Duke. Stanford opens its ACC slate next Wednesday at Virginia Tech.

Friday’s winner will secure a valuable resume-building victory as the 2025-26 season moves into its critical conference phase.

Tip-off is scheduled for 9 p.m. EST at Maples Pavilion.
