LOS ANGELES (Interstat) — Larry Hughes scored 25 points to help Cal State Northridge edge Fresno State 89-87 in a men’s NCAA Division I basketball game Wednesday night at Matadome.

The Matadors led 47-37 at halftime but had to hold off a second-half rally from the Bulldogs, who scored 50 points after the break. Hughes, a guard from St. Louis, played 36 minutes in the victory. Joshua O’Garro added 23 points for Cal State Northridge, which improved to 5-5.

Zaon Collins led Fresno State with 24 points. DeShawn Gory added 19 for the Bulldogs, who fell to 6-5. Attendance was 756.
