Albany Great Danes vs. Fordham Rams
LAVAL, Quebec (Interstat) — The Albany Great Danes look to halt a three-game skid when they face the Fordham Rams in a non-conference men’s basketball game on Saturday at Place Bell.
Albany (2-4) enters the contest after a 73-63 road loss to Siena on Nov. 21. Amir Lindsey led the Great Danes with 23 points in that defeat. Albany’s two victories this season have come against lower-division opponents Paul Smiths and SUNY Delhi, while they have struggled in games against Division I foes, including losses to Marquette, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
Fordham (5-2) arrives with momentum after a narrow 74-72 home win over Franklin Pierce on Friday. DeJour Reaves paced the Rams with 22 points, five rebounds and six assists, while Rikus Schulte added a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. The Rams’ only losses this season were a 76-71 defeat at Iona and a season-opening setback against NJIT.
The neutral-site game in Laval, a suburb of Montreal, presents a unique challenge for both teams as they continue their non-conference schedules. Fordham will rely on its stronger early-season record and balanced scoring attack, while Albany seeks its first Division I win of the campaign behind the scoring of Lindsey.
Both teams will remain in Laval for another game, with Albany facing SUNY Oneonta and Fordham taking on Colgate on Sunday.
