Queens (N.C.) at Virginia

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (Interstat) — The Virginia men’s basketball team looks to rebound from its first loss of the season when it hosts Queens (N.C.) on Friday, Nov. 28, 2025, at John Paul Jones Arena.

The Cavaliers (5-1) had their undefeated start snapped in a 80-73 home loss to Butler on Sunday. Malik Thomas led Virginia with 24 points in the defeat. Prior to that, Virginia’s defense had been stifling, holding four of its first five opponents to 62 points or fewer.

Queens (3-4), transitioning to NCAA Division I, enters on a two-game swing of high-scoring contests. The Royals fell 90-79 at Furman on Sunday despite 16 points from Maban Jabriel, but secured a 101-94 home victory over UNC Greensboro on Nov. 20. They are 0-3 in true road games this season.

The matchup pits Virginia’s renowned pack-line defense against a Queens offense that has shown the ability to score in bursts. The Cavaliers will be heavily favored playing in their home arena, where they are 4-1 this season.

This is the first-ever meeting between the programs. Following this game, Virginia begins a tough stretch with a road game at Texas, while Queens continues a daunting non-conference slate at Wake Forest.
