Vanderbilt vs. Western Kentucky
NASSAU, The Bahamas (Interstat) — Two of the nation’s remaining undefeated men’s basketball teams will clash in a tropical showdown Wednesday when the Vanderbilt Commodores face the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers at Imperial Arena.
Vanderbilt (5-0) enters the contest with a high-powered offense, having scored over 100 points in three of its five victories. The Commodores are coming off a dominant 109-74 win over Texas Southern on Nov. 20, where Tyler Tanner and Tyler Nickel each scored 20 points. Tanner also dished out seven assists.
Western Kentucky (4-0) has also started strong, most recently defeating Bethel 97-67 on Nov. 18. Grant Newell led the way with 16 points in that contest, while Teagan Moore and Kade Unseld added 15 points apiece.
The game marks a step up in competition for both squads. Vanderbilt’s perfect record includes a road win at UCF, while the Hilltoppers’ best win so far came at Eastern Kentucky.
The neutral-site game in The Bahamas offers an early-season test before both teams return to their respective conference schedules. Vanderbilt will travel to face South Florida the following day, while Western Kentucky’s next game is at home against Evansville on Dec. 6.
