Northwestern vs. Virginia
WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. (Interstat) — Two of the nation’s remaining undefeated teams will clash Friday when Northwestern faces Virginia in a non-conference men’s basketball game at the Greenbrier Resort.
The Wildcats (4-0) and Cavaliers (4-0) have both dominated their early-season schedules, with each winning their games by an average margin of over 25 points.
Northwestern is coming off its closest contest, an 81-79 road win over DePaul last Friday. Nick Martinelli led the way with 24 points and five rebounds, while Arrinten Page added 22 points and five boards. The Wildcats’ high-powered offense has scored 80 or more points in three of their four games.
Virginia has been equally impressive, dismantling Marshall 104-78 in its last outing. Forward Thijs De Ridder paced the Cavaliers with 23 points and six rebounds. Virginia’s trademark defense has held three opponents under 55 points this season.
The neutral-site matchup pits Northwestern’s potent offense against Virginia’s stifling defense, setting the stage for a clash of styles. Both teams look to protect their perfect records before facing other high-major opponents at the multi-team event on Sunday.
