Arkansas State at SMU

DALLAS (Interstat) — The undefeated SMU Mustangs look to continue their hot start when they host the Arkansas State Red Wolves in a nonconference men’s basketball game Friday at Moody Coliseum.

SMU enters the contest with a 5-0 record, coming off a dominant 106-60 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Tuesday. The Mustangs’ offense has been potent, averaging over 92 points per game. In their last outing, Jaron Pierre Jr. scored 23 points, while Boopie Miller recorded a double-double with 15 points and 10 assists.

Arkansas State (3-1) brings momentum from a 95-67 win over Christian Brothers on Saturday. Jaxon Ellingsworth led the way with 20 points and seven rebounds in that victory. The Red Wolves’ only loss this season was a 90-65 defeat at Stephen F. Austin.

The game represents a step up in competition for Arkansas State, which will face a Mustangs squad that has already notched a quality win over Butler. SMU’s backcourt, featuring Miller and BJ Edwards, will test the Red Wolves’ defense.

Following this game, Arkansas State hosts Jacksonville State on Monday. SMU remains at home to face Radford on the same day.
