Texas Southern at Texas State

SAN MARCOS, Texas (Interstat) — The Texas State Bobcats (2-2) will host the Texas Southern Tigers (0-3) in a non-conference men’s basketball game Saturday at Strahan Coliseum.

Texas State is looking to build on a 80-69 home victory over Texas-San Antonio on Wednesday. In that win, Robert Fields posted 9 points and 11 rebounds, while DJ Hall recorded an 11-point, 10-rebound double-double and Kaden Gumbs dished out 7 assists. The Bobcats have split their two home games this season, including a dominant 114-55 win over TAMU-San Antonio.

The Tigers are still seeking their first win after a tough start to the season. They are coming off a narrow 93-90 overtime loss to Samford on Wednesday. Troy Hupstead scored 25 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in the defeat, and Duane Posey added a 16-point, 11-rebound double-double. Texas Southern’s three losses have come against Samford, Texas A&M and Gonzaga by an average margin of 25.3 points.

Saturday’s contest will be the final home game for Texas State before a four-game stretch that includes a trip to Las Vegas and a road game at Rice. Texas Southern continues a difficult opening slate with a road game at Vanderbilt next Thursday.
