Chattanooga at Florida Gulf Coast

FORT MYERS, Fla. (Interstat) — Two teams looking to rebound from difficult road losses, the Chattanooga Mocs and Florida Gulf Coast Eagles, will meet in a non-conference men’s basketball game Saturday at Alico Arena.

Both teams enter the matchup with 1-2 records. Chattanooga is coming off a 101-69 defeat at UNLV last Saturday. In that game, Teddy Washington scored 18 points and Jordan Frison added 13 for the Mocs, who opened the season with a win over Union Commonwealth before consecutive double-digit losses at Saint Mary’s and UNLV.

The Eagles are seeking to bounce back from a narrow 95-94 home loss to Georgia Southern on Tuesday. In that contest, JR Konieczny posted a double-double with 24 points and 13 rebounds, while Rahmir Barno contributed 21 points and seven assists. Like the Mocs, FGCU started its season with a decisive home win over a lower-division opponent, New College, before falling at Illinois and in the heartbreaker to Georgia Southern.

The game will be a test for both defenses. Chattanooga has allowed an average of 92 points in its two losses, while FGCU surrendered 113 points at Illinois before the high-scoring affair with Georgia Southern.

Following this game, Chattanooga travels to face South Carolina State on Nov. 19. Florida Gulf Coast’s next contest is at home against Oral Roberts on Nov. 24.
