SIU Edwardsville at Texas-San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO (Interstat) — Two teams coming off season-opening blowouts will meet Friday afternoon when the SIU Edwardsville Cougars visit the Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners in a non-conference men’s basketball game.

Both teams enter the contest at the Convocation Center (UTSA) with 1-0 records. SIU Edwardsville dominated in a 119-50 victory over East-West University on Tuesday. The Cougars had a balanced scoring attack, with Jo Valrie (14 points, 9 rebounds), Ring Malith (16 points, 6 rebounds) and CJ Hall (14 points, 5 assists) all posting efficient numbers.

UTSA also cruised in its opener, defeating Biblical Studies 97-30 on Wednesday.

The game represents a step up in competition for both programs after facing non-Division I opponents. For SIU Edwardsville, it begins a challenging stretch of four consecutive road games, with trips to Drake, Wisconsin and Air Force looming. The Cougars will not play at home again until Nov. 28.

The Roadrunners, who are playing their home opener, will embark on a string of six straight road games after Friday’s contest. Their upcoming schedule includes difficult tests at Texas State, Alabama and Colorado.

Tipoff is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 7, 2025, in San Antonio.
