Portland State at Stanford
STANFORD, Calif. (Interstat) — The Stanford men’s basketball team opens its 2025-26 season Tuesday night, hosting the Portland State Vikings at Maples Pavilion.
Both teams enter the new campaign looking to put the disappointments of last season behind them. The Cardinal finished 14-17 last year, a season that ended with a 77-75 home loss to Kent State in the NIT on March 23. Portland State also concluded its previous season on a losing note, falling 80-70 to Idaho on March 10.
The matchup pits Stanford, a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference, against a Portland State program from the Big Sky Conference. This game marks the official start for both squads, as their current 0-0 records reflect only preseason exhibitions.
For Stanford, the home opener begins a challenging non-conference slate that includes a neutral-site game against Minnesota and a home contest against Colorado later in December. The Vikings will continue a tough early-season road trip after this game, traveling to face San Francisco on Nov. 12 before their own home opener on Nov. 7.
Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. PST in Palo Alto. The game will be Stanford’s only home contest before facing Montana on Nov. 8.
