Arkansas-Little Rock at Tennessee Tech
Preview: Arkansas-Little Rock at Tennessee Tech
ALGOOD, Tenn. (Interstat) — Two Ohio Valley Conference men’s basketball teams seeking momentum will meet Saturday when the Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans visit the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles at Eblen Center.
The Trojans (9-12) enter having lost two straight, including a 70-63 defeat at Tennessee State on Thursday. The Golden Eagles (7-14) have dropped five consecutive games, most recently a 62-58 loss at SIU Edwardsville on Jan. 24.
Arkansas-Little Rock will look to guard Johnathan Lawson to ignite its offense. Lawson has been a consistent scoring force, averaging 19.3 points over his last seven games. He scored 16 points in the loss to Tennessee State and had 23 points and five assists in a Jan. 8 win over SIU Edwardsville.
For Tennessee Tech, guard Mekhi Cameron aims to break a recent slump. After scoring 15 points in the loss to SIU Edwardsville, he was held to eight and five points in the following two contests. His season high of 15 points came in a Jan. 10 road win at Western Illinois.
The Trojans won the previous meeting this season decisively, 77-58 at home on Jan. 1. In that game, Arkansas-Little Rock limited Tennessee Tech to 32.8% shooting from the field.
Both teams have struggled for consistency in conference play. Arkansas-Little Rock has shown flashes, winning three straight from Jan. 8-17, but has since faltered. Tennessee Tech’s last victory was its 59-54 win at Western Illinois on Jan. 10, and it has not won at home since Dec. 18.
The game is part of a packed OVC schedule as the conference season nears its midpoint. Following this matchup, Arkansas-Little Rock returns home to host Lindenwood on Feb. 5. Tennessee Tech remains at home to face Western Illinois on the same date.
Tipoff is set for Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, in Algood.
