OXFORD, Ohio (Interstat) — Almar Atlason scored 21 points to lead Miami (Ohio) to an 87-76 victory over Western Michigan in a Mid-American Conference men’s basketball game Tuesday night at Millett Hall.

The Redhawks (16-0, 2-0 MAC) used a strong second half, outscoring the Broncos 48-41 after leading 39-35 at halftime, to remain unbeaten. Jayden Brewer led Western Michigan (5-9, 0-2) with 19 points. Miami’s balanced attack featured four other scorers in double figures, including Antwone Woolfolk with 13 points and Peter Suder with 12.

A crowd of 1,407 watched the Redhawks maintain control throughout the second half to secure the win. Western Michigan’s Justice Williams added 14 points in the losing effort.
