Tennessee State at Arkansas-Little Rock

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Interstat) — A surging Tennessee State team looks to continue its winning ways when it visits an Arkansas-Little Rock squad seeking consistency in an Ohio Valley Conference men’s basketball matchup Saturday at Jack Stephens Center.

The Tigers (8-5) have won three of their last four, including an 88-76 road victory at Tennessee Tech on Tuesday. They are led by guard Travis Harper, who is averaging 20 points over his last four games. He scored a season-high 29 points in the win over Tennessee Tech.

The Trojans (5-9) are coming off a 77-58 home win over Tennessee Tech on Thursday, snapping a three-game skid. Guard Johnathan Lawson has been a bright spot, averaging 20.5 points and 5.2 assists per game. He posted 20 points, six assists and two blocks in the most recent victory.

Tennessee State has found success with balanced scoring and defense, holding opponents to 71 points or fewer in three of its last four wins. Arkansas-Little Rock has struggled against stronger competition, with its wins coming against teams with a combined record well below .500.

This game begins a key conference stretch for both teams. The Tigers have won two straight true road games. The Trojans, despite their record, are 4-2 at home this season.

The teams will meet again in Nashville on Jan. 29.
