Bryant at High Point
HIGH POINT, N.C. (Interstat) — A surging High Point men’s basketball team looks to continue its strong non-conference play when it hosts struggling Bryant on Monday, Dec. 22, at Qubein Arena.
The Panthers (10-3) have won eight of their last nine games, most recently an 84-72 victory over La Salle on Friday. High Point is powered by guard Conrad Martinez, who scored 24 points in that win and is averaging 17.0 points and 6.2 assists over his last five contests. The Panthers’ offense has been potent, scoring 89 or more points in six games this season.
They face a Bryant squad mired in a difficult stretch. The Bulldogs (3-9) have lost five of their last six, including a 74-82 home loss to Marist on Dec. 13 in their most recent outing. Bryant has struggled on the road, going 0-7 away from Smithfield, Rhode Island, this season.
Bryant will rely on guard Timofei Rudovskii, who has been a consistent scorer. He tallied 17 points in each of the losses to Marist and Iona last week, averaging 15.4 points over his last seven games. Support from Quincy Allen (12 points vs. Marist) and Ashley Sims (11 points vs. Marist) will be crucial against High Point’s high-powered attack.
The matchup pits one of the nation’s top scoring offenses in High Point against a Bryant team that has been held under 65 points in half of its games this season. The Panthers have excelled at home, boasting a 7-1 record at Qubein Arena.
This game concludes the non-conference slate for both programs. High Point begins Big South Conference play on Dec. 31 at UNC Asheville, while Bryant opens America East Conference action on Jan. 3 at Maine.
Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. EST Monday.
