POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (Interstat) — Marist defeated Mount Saint Mary’s 64-56 in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference men’s basketball game Friday night at McCann Recreation Center.

The Red Foxes improved to 5-2 overall. The Mountaineers fell to 2-8.

Marist led 30-20 at halftime and maintained its advantage throughout the second half. Mount Saint Mary’s outscored Marist 36-34 after intermission but could not overcome the double-digit deficit.

A crowd of 1,759 watched the conference opener for both teams. Marist next hosts Manhattan on Sunday. Mount Saint Mary’s visits Loyola Maryland on Dec. 13.
