Youngstown State at Toledo
TOLEDO, Ohio (Interstat) — Two teams looking to build early-season momentum will meet Wednesday when Youngstown State visits Toledo in a non-conference men’s basketball matchup at Savage Arena.
Both the Penguins (2-2) and Rockets (2-2) enter with .500 records after splitting their first four contests.
Youngstown State is coming off an 84-80 road loss to Saint Bonaventure on Saturday. The Penguins had a balanced scoring attack in the defeat, with Cris Carroll (13 points), Rich Rolf (14 points) and Vladimer Salaridze (13 points) all reaching double figures. The Penguins’ season has been marked by extremes, including a 115-53 rout of Penn St.-Shenango and a 74-59 loss at Pittsburgh.
Toledo also last played on Saturday, securing a 90-83 home victory over Detroit. The Rockets’ offense was powered by a strong performance from Leroy Blyden, who scored 20 points and dished out 7 assists. Austin Parks (17 points, 7 rebounds) and Sean Craig (17 points, 6 rebounds) also made significant contributions. The Rockets have shown resilience, bouncing back from an 85-73 home loss to Marshall with a road win at Wright State.
The game marks the start of a busy stretch for both squads. Following this contest, Youngstown State heads to Jacksonville, Fla., for a multi-team event, while Toledo will travel to play at Troy.
Tip-off is set for Wednesday night at John F. Savage Hall.
