Tarleton State at Baylor

WACO, Texas (Interstat) — The Baylor Bears, off to a 2-0 start, will look to maintain their perfect record when they host the up-and-down Tarleton State Texans on Friday at the Ferrell Center.

Baylor is coming off a 78-69 home victory over Washington on Nov. 9. In that contest, the Bears were led by Cameron Carr’s 16 points and six rebounds, while Caden Powell added a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. The Bears opened their season with a 96-81 win over Texas-Rio Grande Valley.

The Tarleton State Texans (2-2) arrive in Waco with momentum from a 76-62 home win over Merrimack on Tuesday. Chris Mpaka scored 24 points and blocked four shots in the victory, and Freddy Hicks added 18 points, five assists and four rebounds. The Texans have shown a stark contrast between their home and road performances, winning both games in Stephenville but losing their two road contests at LSU and SMU by an average of 28 points.

Friday’s game marks the first meeting between the two programs. For Baylor, it serves as the final tune-up before a challenging trip to Las Vegas for games against Creighton and Saint John’s next week. Tarleton State will return home to face Angelo State on Monday.
