STEPHENVILLE, Texas (Interstat) — The Tarleton State Texans will look to build on their first win of the season when they host the winless Merrimack Warriors in a non-conference men’s basketball game Tuesday night at Wisdom Gym.

Tarleton State (1-2) is coming off an 85-77 home victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Saturday. Guard Dior Johnson led the way with 32 points, while Freddy Hicks added 14 and Kade Douglas scored 18. The Texans dropped their first two games of the season on the road at SMU and LSU by significant margins.

Merrimack (0-2) is searching for its first victory after opening the season with road losses to South Dakota State and, most recently, a 95-57 defeat at Auburn on Thursday. Ernest Shelton scored 23 points in the loss to the Tigers.

The game pits two teams seeking consistency early in the 2025-26 campaign. The Warriors continue a challenging opening stretch away from home, while the Texans will play their second of a three-game homestand before a tough road test at Baylor on Friday.
