WEST HAVEN, Conn. (Interstat) — Qadir Martin scored 16 points to lead Mercyhurst to a 61-57 victory over New Haven in a Northeast Conference men’s basketball game Friday afternoon at Charger Gymnasium.

The Lakers improved to 9-11, matching the Chargers’ record. Mercyhurst trailed 28-27 at halftime but used a 34-point second half to secure the road win. Najimi George led New Haven with 17 points. The Chargers, who were projected as heavy favorites by analytics, shot poorly from the floor. Mercyhurst held advantages in points off turnovers and in the paint before an announced crowd of 487.
