Fairleigh Dickinson at New Haven

WEST HAVEN, Conn. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking momentum in Northeast Conference play will meet Saturday when the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights visit the New Haven Chargers at Charger Gymnasium.

The Knights (5-11) enter on a high note after a 70-63 home victory over Chicago State on Thursday. That win snapped a two-game skid and showcased the dominant inside presence of forward Taeshaud Jackson. The junior recorded a double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds in 29 minutes, continuing a strong stretch where he has averaged 15.2 points and 9.2 rebounds over his last five contests. Joey Niesman added 18 points in the win.

Conversely, the Chargers (6-10) are looking to rebound from a difficult 73-47 road loss at Le Moyne on Thursday. New Haven struggled offensively, shooting just 30.4% from the field. Guard Andre Pasha led the team with 10 points in the defeat. He has been a bright spot, averaging 11.8 points over his last five games, including an 18-point effort in a loss to Central Connecticut on Jan. 4.

Both teams have faced challenging non-conference slates, with losses to power-conference opponents like Minnesota, Boston College, Vanderbilt and Seton Hall. The matchup represents a critical opportunity for each to build a winning record within the league.

Fairleigh Dickinson has shown recent offensive balance, with Jackson, Niesman and Arthur Cox all capable of scoring in double figures. New Haven will need a more efficient shooting performance and likely a stronger defensive effort on the glass against Jackson to secure a home victory.

The Knights lead the all-time series 4-2, but the teams have not met since the 2018-19 season. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. EST on Saturday, Jan. 10.
