NEWARK, N.J. (Interstat) — NJIT held off New Haven for a 70-64 men’s basketball victory Wednesday night at Fleisher Athletic Center.

The Highlanders led 36-33 at halftime and maintained a narrow edge throughout the second half. Jabri Fitzpatrick led all scorers with 20 points for the Chargers. NJIT’s Ari Fulton scored 13 points and blocked two shots.

NJIT secured the win at the free-throw line, making 22 of 31 attempts, while New Haven went 11 for 19. The Highlanders improved to 4-7. The Chargers fell to 5-6 despite forcing 11 turnovers and grabbing 14 offensive rebounds in front of an announced crowd of 792.
