NEW ORLEANS (Interstat) — Shammah Scott scored 20 points to lead Akron to an 88-71 victory over Tulane in a nonconference men’s basketball game Saturday at Devlin Fieldhouse.

The Zips (8-2) never trailed, building a 42-34 halftime lead and shooting 50% from the field, including 13 of 31 from 3-point range. Tavari Johnson added 18 points for Akron, which maintained a double-digit advantage for most of the second half.

Rowan Brumbaugh led the Green Wave (6-3) with 16 points. Tulane struggled offensively, shooting just 7 for 33 from beyond the arc and committing 14 turnovers.
