North Carolina Central at Delaware State
Preview: North Carolina Central Eagles at Delaware State Hornets
LEIPSIC, Del. (Interstat) — Two men’s basketball teams looking to halt losing streaks will meet Saturday when the Delaware State Hornets host the North Carolina Central Eagles in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference matchup at Memorial Hall.
The Eagles (10-16, 4-5 MEAC) enter on a two-game skid, including a 100-67 road loss to Howard last Saturday. The Hornets (6-19, 2-7) have lost four consecutive games, most recently an 82-68 defeat at Morgan State.
North Carolina Central won the first meeting this season, 72-63 at home on Feb. 9. In that game, the Eagles limited Delaware State to 36.2% shooting from the field.
A key player for the Eagles is guard Kyric Davis, who is coming off a 23-point, five-rebound performance in the loss to Howard. Over his last seven games, Davis has shown significant offensive output, including a 10-point, six-block effort in a win over Morgan State on Feb. 16. His defensive presence will be critical against a struggling Hornets offense.
Delaware State will look to forward Cyril Obasogie to provide a spark. Obasogie posted 10 points and eight rebounds in the loss to Morgan State, but his minutes and production have been inconsistent in recent weeks. The Hornets need more from him to improve upon a season scoring average of just 62.2 points per game, which ranks near the bottom of Division I.
For North Carolina Central, consistency beyond Davis is a question. Kelechi Okworogwo added 20 points and eight rebounds against Howard, but the Eagles have struggled to find reliable secondary scoring during their recent losses.
Both teams are nearing the end of the regular season and seeking momentum for the upcoming conference tournament. With the MEAC standings still in flux, a win is vital for either squad to improve its seeding.
The game is scheduled for a 4 p.m. EST tip-off on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026.
