Hofstra Falls Short at UNC Wilmington in Tight Colonial Clash

WILMINGTON, N.C. (Interstat) — UNC Wilmington edged Hofstra 70-66 in a Colonial Athletic Association men’s basketball game Saturday at Trask Coliseum.

The Seahawks (22-4, 12-2) held a narrow 34-32 halftime lead and maintained a slight advantage throughout a closely contested second half before securing the win in front of 5,220 fans. Hofstra (17-10, 10-4) was led by Cruz Davis with 22 points and Preston Edmead with 21, but the Pride could not overcome UNC Wilmington’s interior scoring, which produced 30 points in the paint.

Patrick Wessler paced the Seahawks with 18 points and nine rebounds. Both teams finished with identical possession counts, but UNC Wilmington’s superior efficiency from the field and the free-throw line proved decisive.
