Delaware State at Coppin State

Preview: Delaware State Hornets at Coppin State Eagles

BALTIMORE (Interstat) — Two men’s basketball teams seeking momentum will meet Saturday when the Delaware State Hornets visit the Coppin State Eagles in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference matchup.

The game, scheduled for Feb. 7, 2026, at the Coppin State Physical Education Complex, features programs with a combined nine wins this season. Delaware State (6-14 overall) enters with slightly better form, having snapped a four-game skid with a 65-57 home victory over Maryland-Eastern Shore on Jan. 31. Coppin State (3-20) looks to end a five-game losing streak following a 72-53 home loss to Howard on Monday.

The Eagles won the season’s first meeting, 53-51, at Delaware State on Jan. 3.

A key player for the Hornets is guard Corey Perkins, who is coming off a strong all-around performance in the win over Maryland-Eastern Shore, logging 37 minutes with 12 points, three rebounds and five assists. Over his last four games, Perkins has averaged 9.8 points and 4.5 assists.

Coppin State will rely on forward Demariontay Hall, who has scored in double figures in three consecutive contests. He posted 16 points and four rebounds in a loss at Norfolk State on Jan. 24 and added 12 points in each of his last two outings.

Both teams have struggled offensively this season. The Eagles have allowed 103 and 89 points in recent losses, while the Hornets have been held under 65 points in eight of their 14 defeats.

Saturday’s contest represents a critical opportunity for either squad to gain conference footing before the final stretch of the regular season. Following this game, Delaware State travels to Norfolk State on Feb. 14, while Coppin State visits North Carolina Central the same day.
