Lindenwood at Morehead State

Preview: Lindenwood Lions at Morehead State Eagles

HALDEMAN, Ky. (Interstat) — Ohio Valley Conference rivals Lindenwood and Morehead State, separated by just one game in the standings, meet Saturday at E.T. Johnson Arena in a pivotal midseason matchup.

The visiting Lindenwood Lions (13-9) enter with momentum, having won three of their last four, including a 73-60 road victory at Southern Indiana on Thursday. The Morehead State Eagles (12-10) are also coming off a win, a narrow 67-65 home triumph over SIU Edwardsville.

This contest is a quick rematch of a Jan. 1 meeting, which Lindenwood won 77-64 at home. The Lions will look to replicate that defensive performance and complete a regular-season sweep.

A key player to watch is Lindenwood guard Dontrez Williams, who is averaging 18.4 points over his last seven games. He scored 21 points in the win over Southern Indiana and had 21 points, five rebounds and three assists in the first matchup against Morehead State.

The Eagles counter with Jon Carroll, who provides a scoring spark off the bench. Carroll poured in 22 points in a Jan. 15 overtime loss at Tennessee State and had 17 points in a Jan. 3 road win.

Both teams have shown recent inconsistency within conference play. Lindenwood’s last five games include two double-digit wins and two double-digit losses. Morehead State has won four of its last six, but the victories have been by an average of just 4.3 points.

The game could hinge on interior play. Lindenwood’s Milos Nenadic is coming off a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds against Southern Indiana. Containing him will be a focus for a Morehead State frontcourt that includes Anouar Mellouk, who had 10 points and two blocks last time out.

With the OVC tournament seeding taking shape, Saturday’s result will provide a crucial tiebreaker or separation between two teams jockeying for position in the upper half of the league.

Tip-off is set for Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, at E.T. Johnson Arena.
