Brown at Princeton
PRINCETON, N.J. (Interstat) — Two Ivy League men’s basketball teams seeking momentum will meet Saturday when the Brown Bears visit the Princeton Tigers at Jadwin Gymnasium.
Both teams enter the Jan. 24 contest with identical 6-10 overall records, though Princeton holds a 2-1 conference mark compared to Brown’s 1-2 Ivy League record. The matchup represents a critical early-season opportunity for either squad to climb the league standings.
Brown looks to rebound from an 89-67 home loss to Cornell on Monday. The Bears’ recent play has been inconsistent, mixing an overtime win over Columbia with double-digit losses to Cornell and Yale this month. Sophomore guard Isaiah Langham has been a bright spot, averaging 12.0 points over his last five games, including a 14-point, five-rebound performance against Cornell. He will need support from Jeremiah Jenkins, who scored 17 points in the loss.
Princeton arrives home after a tough two-game road trip, falling 71-69 at Dartmouth on Monday and 87-80 in overtime at Harvard on Jan. 17. The Tigers have leaned heavily on junior guard Jackson Hicke, who is averaging 23.2 points over his last five contests. Hicke poured in a career-high 28 points in the narrow loss at Dartmouth and scored 27 in a decisive win over Yale on Jan. 10. His scoring prowess will be central to Princeton’s attack.
Historically, Princeton has dominated the series, but both teams’ parallel records this season suggest a closely contested game. Brown will aim to control the tempo and limit Hicke’s production, while Princeton will look to defend its home court and capitalize on its recent strong offensive performances.
The game is scheduled for a 2 p.m. EST tip-off. Following this contest, Brown will host Harvard on Jan. 30, while Princeton travels to face Cornell on the same date.
