Morgan State at Delaware State
LEIPSIC, Del. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking traction in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference will meet Saturday when the Delaware State Hornets host the Morgan State Bears at Memorial Hall.
Both squads enter the contest on losing streaks, with Morgan State (4-13) dropping its last game, 89-78 to North Carolina Central on Monday. Delaware State (5-12) has lost four straight, most recently an 84-58 defeat at Howard, also on Monday.
The matchup features a pair of standout guards in strong recent form. Morgan State will rely on Alfred Worrell, who is coming off a 29-point performance against North Carolina Central. Over his last five games, the junior is averaging 20.4 points, including a 32-point outburst in a win over Penn St. Brandywine on Dec. 30.
Delaware State counters with Miles Webb, who scored 19 points in the loss to Howard. Webb has been a consistent scorer for the Hornets, reaching double figures in four of his last five contests and averaging 12.4 points over that stretch.
Morgan State’s victory over South Carolina State on Jan. 10 stands as its only win in the past seven games. The Bears have struggled defensively, allowing an average of 82.6 points in their last five outings.
Delaware State has found points hard to come by during its skid, failing to reach 65 in any of the four losses. Their last win was a 73-61 victory over Holy Family on Dec. 21.
The Hornets won the last meeting between the teams, 78-73, on Feb. 24, 2025. They will look to sweep the regular-season series for the first time since the 2021-22 campaign.
Saturday’s game is the first of two scheduled meetings this season, with the rematch set for Feb. 21 in Baltimore. Following this contest, Morgan State travels to face Howard on Jan. 24, while Delaware State visits North Carolina Central the same day.
