MONTGOMERY, Ala. (Interstat) — Daeshun Ruffin scored 36 points to lead Jackson State to a 75-64 men’s basketball victory over Alabama State on Saturday at Dunn-Oliver Acadome.

The Tigers built a 10-point halftime lead and maintained control throughout the second half in the Southwestern Athletic Conference game before an announced crowd of 895. Ruffin, a guard from Jackson, Mississippi, added five assists in 37 minutes.

Tyler Byrd scored 18 points to lead the Hornets. Jackson State improved to 3-12 overall, while Alabama State fell to 4-11.
