Texas at Alabama

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (Interstat) — Two Southeastern Conference men’s basketball teams looking to rebound from midweek road losses will meet Saturday when the Alabama Crimson Tide hosts the Texas Longhorns at Coleman Coliseum.

Alabama (11-4) fell 96-90 at Vanderbilt on Wednesday despite a 25-point effort from guard Amari Allen. The Crimson Tide, which had won three straight prior to the Vanderbilt trip, boasts one of the nation’s top offenses but has shown defensive vulnerabilities in its losses.

Texas (9-6) arrives after a 71-85 defeat at Tennessee on Tuesday. The Longhorns have dropped two consecutive conference games, including a 98-101 overtime thriller against Mississippi State on Jan. 3.

A key matchup will feature two of the league’s hot-handed guards. Alabama’s Allen is averaging 18.8 points over his last four games, showcasing an all-around game with contributions in rebounds and assists. For Texas, Tramon Mark has been a consistent scoring force, averaging 20.3 points over his last three contests, including 20 points in both SEC games this month.

The game pits Alabama’s high-octane attack against a Texas team seeking more consistent defensive stops. The Crimson Tide have scored 89 or more points in nine games this season, including a 102-point outing against Yale. Texas, meanwhile, has allowed an average of 93 points in its two SEC losses.

This marks the first conference meeting between the programs as SEC foes. Alabama holds a 9-7 edge in the all-time series, but the teams have not met since 2019.

Following this contest, Alabama travels to face Mississippi State on Tuesday. Texas returns home to host Vanderbilt on Jan. 14.

Tipoff is set for Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026.
