SWAC Foes Meet as Alabama A&M Visits Arkansas-Pine Bluff
PINE BLUFF, Ark. (Interstat) — SWAC play opens Saturday as the Alabama A&M Bulldogs visit the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions at HPER Complex.
Alabama A&M (7-6) enters conference action with momentum, having won three of its last four games, including a 90-58 rout of Fisk on Tuesday. The Bulldogs are led by guard Kintavious Dozier, who is averaging 16.2 points over his last five contests. He posted 12 points and six assists in the win over Fisk.
The Bulldogs’ non-conference schedule featured several power conference opponents, resulting in lopsided losses at Clemson (92-56) and Mississippi (80-66). However, they have shown resilience at home, boasting a 6-1 record in Huntsville.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff (3-10) seeks a reset after a challenging non-conference slate defined by road games. The Golden Lions played their first 11 contests away from Pine Bluff, going 1-10. They returned home for two dominant wins over non-Division I opponents, Champion Christian (138-73) and Ecclesia (114-64), on Dec. 15 and 17.
Guard Quion Williams erupted for 29 points and 18 assists in the win over Champion Christian, while Jaquan Scott added 33 points. The Golden Lions will need similar production against Division I competition, where they have struggled, particularly defensively, allowing an average of 95.2 points in their 10 losses.
This matchup pits Alabama A&M’s more balanced record against a UAPB squad eager to prove its recent offensive explosions can translate against a conference foe. The Bulldogs won both meetings last season.
Tipoff is set for Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026.
