North Carolina A&T at Stony Brook

STONY BROOK, N.Y. (Interstat) — Two teams looking to halt losing streaks and establish momentum in the Colonial Athletic Association will meet Saturday when the Stony Brook Seawolves host the North Carolina A&T Aggies at Island Federal Credit Union Arena.

Both teams enter the New Year’s weekend contest on skids. The visiting Aggies (7-6) have dropped their last two, including an 85-74 home loss to Northeastern on Wednesday. The Seawolves (8-7) have lost four straight, most recently a 76-57 defeat at William & Mary on Wednesday.

North Carolina A&T will lean on forward Will Felton, who is coming off one of his best performances of the season. Against Northeastern, Felton scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds in 22 minutes. His recent play has been a bright spot for an Aggies team that also features consistent contributors like Trent Middleton and Zamoku Weluche-Ume, who posted a double-double in the last outing.

Stony Brook counters with forward Richard Goods, who has been a force on the boards. He pulled down 14 rebounds to go with seven points and three assists in the loss to William & Mary. Goods’ interior presence will be key against an Aggies frontcourt featuring Felton. The Seawolves will also need scoring from guards like Erik Pratt, who had a team-high 19 points on Wednesday.

The matchup is the CAA opener for both programs. The Aggies have shown resilience in close games, with three of their wins coming by five points or fewer. The Seawolves have struggled offensively during their losing streak, failing to reach 60 points in three of the four losses.

Saturday’s game tips off a critical January stretch as both teams navigate the conference schedule. Finding a win to start league play could provide a vital spark for either squad’s aspirations in the CAA standings.
