Georgia Pulls Away From Long Island in Second Half

ATHENS, Ga. (Interstat) — Georgia used a dominant second half to defeat Long Island 89-74 in a nonconference men’s basketball game Monday night at Stegeman Coliseum.

The Bulldogs (12-1), trailing 44-41 at halftime, outscored the Sharks 48-30 after intermission to secure the victory before a crowd of 7,541. Long Island fell to 6-7 with the loss.

Georgia’s balanced attack overcame a first-half deficit. The Bulldogs shot efficiently from the floor to fuel their comeback, while Long Island could not sustain its early offensive pace. The Sharks were led by a 44-point first-half performance but managed only 30 points in the second period.

The game was part of Georgia’s final nonconference tune-up before opening Southeastern Conference play Saturday against Auburn. Long Island opens Northeast Conference action Friday against Central Connecticut.
