Presbyterian at East Carolina
GREENVILLE, N.C. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking momentum before the holiday break will meet Wednesday when the Presbyterian Blue Hose visit the East Carolina Pirates in a nonconference men’s basketball game at Williams Arena.
Presbyterian (6-6) enters on a two-game winning streak, most recently defeating Morehead State 80-72 on Dec. 6. East Carolina (4-7) snapped a three-game skid with a 73-70 home victory over Buffalo on Sunday.
The matchup features a contrast in recent leading performers. The Blue Hose are paced by versatile guard Triston Wilson, who is coming off a strong all-around performance with 17 points, seven rebounds and six assists against Morehead State. Over his last six games, Wilson has averaged 8.5 points and 4.8 assists.
The Pirates are powered by the high-scoring exploits of guard Jordan Riley, who has been on a remarkable offensive run. Riley is averaging 24.4 points over his last five contests, including a 31-point, eight-rebound effort in the win over Buffalo. He has scored 25 or more points in three of those games.
East Carolina’s victory over Buffalo provided a needed boost, with Luke Davis adding six points, 11 rebounds and three blocks, and Giovanni Emejuru posting a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds. Presbyterian’s win over Morehead State saw key contributions from Jonah Pierce (11 points, 16 rebounds) and Carl Parrish (18 points).
Both teams have faced challenging early schedules. Presbyterian’s losses include road games at UCLA and California, while East Carolina’s defeats have come against the likes of Michigan State and Saint Bonaventure.
Following this contest, East Carolina faces a quick turnaround with a road game at North Carolina on Monday. Presbyterian will travel to face Manhattan on Sunday.
Wednesday’s game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. EST tipoff.
