Balanced Tar Heels Roll Past Spartans

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (Interstat) — Caleb Wilson recorded a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds Saturday as North Carolina defeated South Carolina Upstate 80-62 at the Dean Smith Center.

The Tar Heels (9-1) led 37-28 at halftime and steadily pulled away before a crowd of 17,759. Luka Bogavac added 15 points, five rebounds and five assists for North Carolina, while Jonathan Powell scored 17 points off the bench.

The Spartans (6-6) were led by 28 first-half points but could not keep pace. North Carolina’s defense held firm in the second half, limiting opportunities for a comeback. The Tar Heels shot efficiently from the floor and distributed scoring among multiple contributors to secure the nonconference victory.
