Army at Fairleigh Dickinson

HACKENSACK, N.J. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking to reverse early-season slides will meet Wednesday when the Army Black Knights visit the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights in a non-conference men’s basketball game at the Rothman Center.

Both teams enter with identical 1-6 records and are looking to snap losing streaks. Army has dropped six straight since a season-opening win over SUNY Maritime, including an 84-67 loss at home to Texas A&M-Commerce on Tuesday. Fairleigh Dickinson is also reeling, coming off a 70-65 home loss to the same Texas A&M-Commerce team on Monday.

The matchup features a pair of Knights squads struggling to find consistency. Army’s losing streak includes decisive defeats to power-conference opponent Duke and Ivy League foes Harvard and Cornell. Fairleigh Dickinson’s lone victory was a 100-58 rout of Saint Elizabeth on Nov. 18, but it has faced its own challenges against major programs like Texas and Iowa State.

Joey Niesman, who scored 17 points with six assists in Army’s most recent game, and Cyril Martynov, who added 15 points and eight rebounds, will be key for the visitors as they search for their first road win.

The game offers a rare opportunity for either team to build momentum before returning to a difficult stretch of their schedules. Following this contest, Army will host Manhattan on Saturday, while Fairleigh Dickinson travels to face Providence on Dec. 2.
