North Carolina Central at Dayton
DAYTON, Ohio (Interstat) — The Dayton Flyers look to build on a strong start to the season when they host the North Carolina Central Eagles in a non-conference men’s basketball game Saturday at University of Dayton Arena.
Dayton (4-1) is coming off an impressive 77-71 overtime win at Marquette on Wednesday. Javon Bennett scored 19 points and De’Shayne Montgomery added 18 in the victory. The Flyers’ only loss came on the road against Cincinnati.
North Carolina Central (2-4) enters after a dominant 123-67 home win over Toccoa Falls on Tuesday. Gage Lattimore led the Eagles with 21 points and seven assists, while Jonathan Dunn scored 20 points. However, the Eagles have struggled against high-major competition, suffering lopsided road losses to North Carolina, North Carolina State, Virginia and Appalachian State.
The game represents a challenge for the Eagles, who are 0-4 in true road games this season. The Flyers are 3-0 at home, having won those contests by an average of 20 points.
This is the first meeting between the two programs. Following this game, Dayton will prepare for a trip to the ESPN Events Invitational in Kissimmee, Florida, where it will face Georgetown on Nov. 27. North Carolina Central travels to face South Carolina Upstate on Nov. 25.
